Sherry-seasoned oak casks define The Glenrothes single malt Scotch whisky. Almost 90% of casks maturing at our Speyside distillery have previously held sherry, a wine made from white grapes grown near the city of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, Spain. The Soleo Collection pays homage to the origin of whisky making by celebrating the flavoursome stages of the grape’s evolution. Soleo is the traditional sun-drying process which creates the foundation for crafting the finest sherry. The grapes are placed under the heat of the Andalusian sun, as they absorb the energy, they change from bright green and yellow to deep purple signaling the perfect moment for fermentation.

Matured entirely in sherry-seasoned oak casks and 100% natural colour, this Collection introduces a multi dimensional flavour experience, uniquely shaped by the casks in which the spirit nurtured and matured.

The Glenrothes invests in, and nurtures, each and every cask maturing at the distillery, paying close attention to how it develops during maturation. All the casks are individually checked by hand and approved by the on-site coopers. 90% of the casks are sherry-seasoned demonstrating a commitment to quality that goes way beyond industry norms. 72% of The Glenrothes’s maturing casks are first fill sherry-seasoned, delivering rich and intense flavours. All Glenrothes whiskies are 100% natural colour.

AROMA: Tropical fruits of mango and pineapple, leading to cedar wood TASTE: Coriander seeds, violets and a hint of salted caramel FINISH: Sweet, lasting floral and citrus notes Aged for 25 years in predominantly first-fill sherry-seasoned casks, this expression delivers heady woody notes yet lighter notes of citrus and tropical fruits shine through.

The Glenrothes 25 years old is the winner of Chairman’s Trophy with a score of 97 at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2018.
