Produced in the same unhurried fashion as it was over two centuries years ago, Oban 14 year Old is a wonderful first choice for beginners and experts alike. Fine single malt whisky has been made here in Oban for over 200 years, in one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. In effect, the town grew up around the distillery and since its foundation in 1794 it has played a crucial role in local life.

Oban is sited where the Highlands meet the islands. It's this coming together of land and sea that brings a hint of peaty smoke; along with a salty maritime edge and delicious orange peel tang and silky finish.

Heritage
One of Scotland’s oldest and smallest distilleries, Oban was built in 1794; the West Highland port city of the same name has grown around it. Oban is the one Single Malt Scotch Whisky in which the rich, complex flavours of the Highlands meet and mingle with the peaty, maritime character of the Islands.

Thousands of years of history surround Oban distillery, where Mesolithic remains were found during C19th building works. Oban’s sea-side symbol is the sea gull, ever present around the port and the distillery.

Taste
The rich flavour of Oban comes from being made in two small stills and slow-cooled in tubs outside to maximise depth of flavour.

Nose: Rich sweetness and fruits - oranges, lemons and pears, with sea-salt and peaty smokiness.

Palate: Mouth-filling late autumn fruits - dried figs and honey-sweet spices; followed by a smoky malty dryness.

Finish: Long, smooth-sweet finish with oak-wood, dryness and a grain of salt.
